GMAT Prep Courses
For many of those studying for the GMAT, it may be worth while to enroll in one of the many available GMAT prep courses. Depending on your learning style, a classroom atmosphere and structured learning environment may be just what you need to attain your desired GMAT score. When looking into GMAT prep classes there are a few things to consider. Most importantly, will the class be more beneficial to you than individual study. If you have trouble motivating yourself, and need extra incentive to study, then a classroom environment is most likely right for you.
Another good reason to participate in a GMAT prep course is if you are having trouble understanding the underlying concepts of the GMAT material. Rather than becoming frustrated on your own, it would be much more productive to have the knowledge and input of an instructor, and get the extra push necessary to maintain an efficient study schedule. When making the decision to enroll in a GMAT prep course, make sure it meshes with your schedule; by this I mean work, family, and especially your admission's deadline. It takes careful planning to make sure you are able to get the most out of the class (there will be homework too) and keep up with the demands of daily life. If you are unable to attend a physical class, many companies offer GMAT prep online. Kaplan and The Princeton review are two such companies.
There are many GMAT prep courses available, so it is important to find the one that fits your learning style, budget, and schedule. It is hard to pinpoint the best GMAT prep course, as everyone has different needs. Kaplan and The Princeton Review are sure to come up in your search. These companies are sizable, and as such, have easily accessible classes in many locations. These two companies have many happy customers, but they are not right for everyone. Furthermore, given the number classes offered by the two companies, there have been some reported issues with quality control of instructors. Of course these reviews are completely subjective, so you must make up your own mind about the quality of teaching. Each company website has information about the qualifications of its instructors, which need to have scored in the highest percentiles of the GMAT.
Two companies that cater to students looking to score a 700+ on the GMAT are Manhattan GMAT and Veritas GMAT. Manhattan GMAT specifically offers prep classes for the GMAT only, and has smaller class sizes.
This is by no means a comprehensive list of GMAT prep courses, but rather a starting point. There are plenty of reviews of the classes these companies offer. Again, keep in mind feedback is relative to a person's skill level and expectations going into a course. Always practice due diligence when enrolling in a GMAT prep course, as it a time and money commitment, but usually well worth the investment.
