Manhattan GMAT Prep

Manhattan GMAT Prep materials have been a great resource for many people. The company is best known for its classroom GMAT prep courses, but, does offer prep books as well. The company offers preparation solely for the GMAT exam.

Manhattan is a smaller company than many of its competitors, which is both good and bad. It is beneficial in that the class sizes are small, which makes for a better learning atmosphere with more attention given to individual students. However, the classes are offered in fewer locations, so, depending on where you live, a Manhattan course may not be an option for you.

If that is the case, you can purchase the Manhattan prep books if you wish. There are eight books in all, each covering a specific subject on the GMAT. You can buy them all together or purchase them individually in order to boost your skills in a certain area.

If you wish to understand the GMAT, specifically the math, Manhattan may be a good choice for you. The Manhattan GMAT materials really stress understanding the material, rather than just learning strategies or shortcuts to get through the test. Obviously, it is ideal to have the greatest understanding possible of the GMAT material going into the exam.

The drawback to the books is there are few practice problems. The Manhattan books refer heavily to the GMAC Official Guide, so you will need to purchase it. You will also have access to several full length practice tests. The tests are great practice, but like all non-GMAC materials, fall short of being completely accurate. Only the GMAC PowerPREP software is an accurate representation of the GMAT. In the case of Manhattan GMAT, the practice test scores tend to be slightly inflated.
