University of Phoenix Accreditation

University of Phoenix accreditation is an important factor to consider. The University of Phoenix is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a regional accrediting organization, and is a member of the North Central Association.

John Sperling School of Business

The John Sperling School of Business is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Although well known,

the ACBSP is not recognized by the department of education. Ideally, a school of business should be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Nursing Programs

The University of Phoenix's nursing programs (Bachelor of Science in Nursing and the Master of Science in Nursing) are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), which is recognized by the Department of Education. The CCNE is a well respected agency, but only accredits Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Ideally, a nursing program also should be accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) which accredits all degree levels and is recognized by the Department of Education.

Education (Master)

The Master of Arts in Education program is accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC).

Counseling

Certain University of Phoenix Master's counseling programs are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

It is important to take University of Phoenix accreditation into account as it could play a crucial role in your employment opportunities. While some employers value a University of Phoenix degree, many do not, especially if said employer is not familiar with a particular regional accrediting organization. Another issue that adds to this problem is that University of Phoenix ranking is not particularly prominent; for instance, the University of Phoenix is un-ranked in US News rankings.
